No-exam life insurance
Which applicants qualify, what happens in the process, and what's different if you need the traditional exam.
Numerous carriers now provide accelerated underwriting: within age and coverage limits, they use your application, prescription records, driving records and similar information instead of ordering a physical exam. Approvals can sometimes arrive within hours. On this site, each quote tells you whether that product requires an exam, might need one, or has no exam requirement.
What it changes
Accelerated underwriting does not skip verification. Your answers are checked, and policies issued based on false information can be challenged in the first two years. If a carrier's investigation uncovers concerns, it may still require an exam or labs; at that stage you decide whether to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Generally applicants below around age 60 seeking coverage within the carrier's accelerated underwriting cap, with no serious health issues and no tobacco use for a year or longer qualify. If you've had a recent medical visit including bloodwork, some carriers will use those instead of ordering new exams.
Should a medical exam be required, expect a 20-to-30-minute appointment with a paramedic at your home or workplace in the Apple Valley region, with no cost to you. For applicants in good health, exam results frequently yield a better rate classification, so it's not necessarily a negative outcome.
